Beaumont Court Nursing Home, North Petherwin, Cornwall
Client: Wentworth Healthcare
Contract Value: c. £1.7 million
Services: RIBA Stages 0 to 7-Inception through to Completion and Use.
Status: Planning Permission.

Description:

The Client wished to extend their existing Care Home to provide 28 new bedrooms with en-suite facilities on a sloping site enclosed by mature trees. The Local Authority would only allow a single storey extension to preserve the existing Vicarage as the dominant building form. The natural topography of the site was therefore exploited to create a Lower Ground Floor level which is not apparent from the entrance elevation. 3D modelling software was used extensively to illustrate the scheme. Planning Permission was granted in April 2012, and is currently in the process of being enacted, to preserve the consent until a time when the Client deems the extension works to  become viable.
